So, Vegas actually closed betting on the AU VS UGA game due to speculation over whether or not Newton will be eligible. Click HERE. This shit is absolutely insane.
Yeah, it's just because the line is moving so much. Most said the game will be back up by Friday or Saturday morning at the latest.
However, the fact that they had to remove the line due to the enormous amount of shifting in betting speaks loads about how much shit is being flung on Cam and Auburn around the country.
The worst thing about it is that outside of the south (people in the WJOX listening area) people are just hearing Reggie Bush 2.0.
Just pretend you are from Oregon for a moment. All you know about your possible Championship contender is that ESPN is reporting a lot of bad things, and you probably aren't going to question it, b/c it's ESPN. And no one up there cares to stand up for us.
If the situation were reversed and we were hearing all this about LaMichael James in the national media, we would have already hung him from a noose by know and be screaming to give Cam the Heisman.
It just really sucks that we finally have a good year in which we aren't going to be screwed of our chance to go to the big game, and instead all the fun gets taken out of it. I mean, if all goes well, the SEC championship and BCS championship pregame shows are going to be all about Cam Newton allegations and "should Auburn really be here" or "are they playing for something that will be taken away in a few years."
Believe me, if HD television wasn't so lagged, I would be listening to the game this weekend on the radio and mute the television so I don't have to hear the bullshit anymore. I can only imagine what dumb shit Gary and Verne are going to say.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! Rant over.
P.S. Heath, I have been trying to befriend you on Starcraft for some time now w/ no answer, what gives? My name is FaustArp.757, we need to play sometime soon.
Agreed Billy...I just want to win out and at least say we accomplished something for all this shit...Roach...I haven't been playing Starcraft in a while. I'll accept it the next time I play.
I still havent heard anything new from when this story broke. The coverage has just been getting more dramatic. The main issue of there only being allegations but no proof is still the main theme here.
Just cause I'm an Auburn fan im not gonna pretend that I know Cam Newton and his family well enough to say there is no way he did anything wrong here. But as a reasonable person I'm going to request that some kind of proof be provided to back up these allegations rather than just a couple guys from a disgruntled college saying it happened. The recruters from Miss State may be awesome people......i dont know.....but they are gonna need to do more than just tell us a story. You have to prove things with evidence. And the fact that all of them have a very clear motive to make up all of this does not help their case either. They are clearly pissed that they got screwed over by missing out on the best player in college football.
I really just want this to be over with. Whether it happened or not it will be best for Auburn to put this behind them. Also, like His Eminence, I think it is time to see some evidence if it exists. Phone records, recordings, paper trail, money trail, something. Also, I know the NCAA doesn't have to operate like the judicial process but if it comes down to Cam's word versus the Mississippi State coaches who gets the benefit of the doubt?
The vicissitudes of this story have been unprecedented. Now, Charles Bloom, an SEC representative, has stated that MSU's report did not include any information about phone conversations with Newton or his father in which either asked for money or implied that money would be a factor. Furthermore, Lane Kiffin has said that the Newton's never asked for money when he recruited him.
My completely unsupported guess is that he is guilty of all of it, but the only thing they will be able to prove is cheating on tests. The allegations are pretty serious to just make up and throw out there to "see what happens." And, although the way everything has came up has been tacky and National Enquirer-ish, it was reported by an orginization that has more to lose by printing false information.
That being said, I'm tired of hearing about it from barners swearing his innocence and from bammers rejoicing because they "know he's guilty and is going down." It stinks for Auburn and it's not the fans' fault if he is guilty. A similar situation could easily happen to us, which is why I'm a little cautious about talking shit. I'm hoping we play against Cam in the Iron Bowl and I'm hoping even harder that we will somehow beat him. I really have no point to this other than venting because I hate facebook during football season because the majority of posters don't acknowledge that both Alabama and Auburn have ignorant fans. There is diarrhea in your mom's cunt.
