Another Day, Another Auburn Rumor

FUCK!!!!! Guys, Auburn just cannot catch a break. From now on I am going to expect something negative about Auburn to surface every month for the rest of the year. That way I won't get my hopes up.

The newest bombshell is supposedly going to come from one of our own. In an HBO documentary that will air in March, former Auburn defensive end Stanley McClover will allege that a former assistant coach provided him with "extra benefits that would be considered against NCAA rules."

Upon reading this, I sent an urgent message to a trusted source to get clarification. This person spoke with Jeris McIntyre who believes it is a scam. McIntyre said McClover is broke, is jealous of the 2010 team, and got paid to do the interview. Allegedly, it will either be Coach Nall or Coach Gran. Fortunately, no signs point to Gene Chizik.

All of this should come out in the documentary. Another interesting aspect is that Alabama and LSU are also prominently featured in this documentary. It is possible that the SEC could look even worse when this is all done.

Updated: It seems that McClover's statements are coming under heavy scrutiny and some familiar with his recruitment and time at Auburn have publicly denied knowledge of any wrongdoing.

  1. Considering that a google search on the subject only turns up forums, mainly alabama forums, I'm going to say this is a major rumor started by Bama fans who were pissed that a number of Alabama football related people were interviewed by HBO a while back, including Tyrone Prothro regarding illegal meetings w/ an agent.

The only thing that is sure is that there is a show coming on HBO March 30th. Here is the only official thing I can find from HBO:

"Ask us a question below for a chance to have your question answered in a special Real Sports Overtime segment, airing on HBO.com immediately after the show."

So considering how many people have submitted questions thus far (14!), and the fact that its being aired on HBO.com, not the channel but the internet, I'm guessing nothing huge is on this, and if so, no one will see it anyway.

  2. Its airing on real sports with bryant gumbel. Which by the way is an awesome show. The question and answer session takes place after the show online. Hbo does that for almost all of there shows. I dont expect any huge
