This is one of the coolest short films I have ever seen. In the early hours of a pleasant Parisian morning, French filmaker Claude Lelouch attached a 35mm camera to the front bumper of his Mercedes-Benz 450SEL and took to the streets of Paris in a choreographed but dangerous and unauthorized high speed drive. As Lelouch drove his Mercedes past most of Paris's iconic landmarks, at speeds topping 85 mph, he drove over sidewalks, blew through red lights, drove the wrong way down many small one-way streets, and had a few near misses with other vehicles.
Production of this film landed Lelouch in jail and he faced significant moral outrage from the public. Over time, though, this film has cemented itself as a cult classic and is now widely considered the best high-speed automobile movie of all time. So, without further ado, I give you C'était un Rendezvous
awesome!
ReplyDeleteThat is a cool video. I passed it around my office last summer. It gives me an almost uncontrollable urge to drive fast thru the city.
