Rex Goliath

If you're lucky, you can catch this beaut on sale for 2 for $10 at your local Publix. When I found these on sale, I tried the Zinfandel, Shiraz, Pinot Noir, and I have a bottle of white wine that I have yet to open.
My first observation about the wine is, "the price is right for getting sloppy by your lonesome on a Tuesday night." This is definitely a wine that you will want to aerate. Without aeration, it has a little bit of that kick that you don't want. After sampling the three different reds mentioned above, my conclusion is: The best part about their product line is if you are in the mood for a shiraz, and all they have is pinot, you're in luck because they all taste like a bargain bonanza merlot. With the aide of aeration, your $5 bottle of wine instantly tastes like a bottle that costs as much as $5.95 (before tax). Overall, I give this wine an 8.0 rating on a scale of 1 to 60. You can't expect much out of $5, but you're still getting $5 worth of hooch. Bottom line, it's great for slumming it at home, but don't carry it to a party expecting to look like you are successful in any other aspect of your life beyond spotting a deal.

  1. Rex-Goliath, Pinot Noir, score 4.8. I pretty much agree with everything the wolf has to say about this wine.
