If anyone has any empty beer bottles (pop off, not twist off) lying around, can I have them? I made a batch of beer a couple weeks ago, it's time to bottle it, and I sort of shit the bed as far as drinking enough bottled beers to give me enough empties. Thanks to a valiant effort from Mr. Orange and another friend of mine, I am only about 1/2 case shy of what I need. Good luck and God speed.
let me know how that turns out. I have always wanted to try brewing my own beer. if it works good let me know where you got your kit at.
ReplyDeleteThis will be somewhere around my six or seventh batch over the last couple years, and so far, nothing has turned out bad. I made an espresso oatmeal stout last year that has been by far my favorite though. This one is a lime hefeweizen, and it smells like it will turn out pretty decent. It's pretty fool-proof when you go by their recipes, although you can definitely create your own. This current one and my last one are the only ones I've added a little bit of my own flare to, but I still haven't altered them enough to risk them turning out way awful or even to call them "my own."
ReplyDeleteI got my kit at Alabrew. They are located in Pelham now, near Oak Mtn. They are really knowledgeable and helpful with everything and they don't try to talk you into buying stuff you don't need, even though they have just about anything you could think of. My kit was like $75 a couple years ago and I haven't spent much more on upgrades since then, so you can spend as much or as little as you want. They had a $50 kit, but mine came with a glass carboy to use as a secondary fermenter. That's the only difference in the two kits and you can always add on to your existing one.
sweet im pumped. gonna pick one up next time im in the ham.
ReplyDeleteDrinking beer makes me drunk and I forget to save my bottles for you.
ReplyDeleteSamsies for me, HDL. I think I have enough now, so we can all go back to drinking for fun. I am willing to sign off on extra credit or service hours for anyone willing to help me bottle. Any takers?
