Phantogram

Phantogram is described as an "electronic rock duo" but that really isn't fair. The electronic element is certainly prevalent in their music but they make excellent use of all types of instruments. Keyboardist Sarah Barthel and guitarist Josh Carter, both of Sarasota Springs, New York make beats and split vocal duties equally and the result is a very unique sound. It is hard to describe what they sound like but for some reason I am reminded of TV on the Radio and Postal Service.

Actually, the comparison to Postal Service might be lazy since it is mainly based on both groups being an electronic duo. But I think Phantogram has better musicality and the vocals definitely aren't as whiny.

Here is their only album, Eyelid Movies, on Groove Shark, and here is a live performance of their song "You Are The Ocean." Start this one at the 0:45 mark.
Lastly, here is what is probably their most popular song right now, "Mouthful of Diamonds."


By the way, I first heard of them by watching this live performance of Cosmic Love by Florence + the Machine and Mouthful of Diamonds was on the right margin.

    Click the button that says "Share" then you click the button that says "embed." It has changed in the last couple of weeks but the ability to embed is not yet lost on all videos.

    Is she hot...I can't tell. I look at her and I'm not sure, probably the haircut, but then she starts singing and playing cool music and I think she's hot. What do you guys think?

    I can't comment on the music any further until I have made my mind up on this issue.

    Funny that you should ask because I was actually perplexed by the same question and had to troll through some pics of her and decide as soon as I saw the first video. She is definitely hot. She's cute like that cocktease that jones dated our last year at college. That one that was in school with him.

    Stylishly straight hair, fair skin, and an, um, "unenhanced" body make her reminiscent of a 60's era model. So yeah, she is definitely hot.

    She's hot, but I can only assume she eats weird food and has vegan farts. That paired with the fact that she probably only wants to talk about her hipster philosophy would make me embarassed to bring her around my friends.

    P.s. The Dude calling her hair "stylishly straight" leads one to believe his sexual orientation is not stylishly straight, but it made me chuckle.
