Movie Reviw: True Grit

I saw True Grit the other night, so I thought I'd give a review. First, the good: The dialogue in this movie was great. The girl, played by Hailee Steinfeld, was the most interesting character. Bridges held his own in the movie, and Matt Damon wasn't bad. The story grabs your attention from the start, but be prepared to be let down. Second, the bad: This movie could have easily been thirty minutes longer and it should have been. The ending seemed rushed with very little time to get to know the killer Bridges and Steinfeld are chasing. I felt indifferent at the end, because I didn't really feel like I had any connection to the characters. In my opinion, you should wait and see this on DVD.

  2. I just saw it last night. It wasn't bad, but Heath is right when he says wait for DVD. I didn't have a problem with the ending or not knowing the villan, but I'm not sure if that's because I kind of already knew how it ended or if it's because Heath prepared me to not get excited about it. It was ok for me though. The biggest disappoinment for me was the little bits of humor they tried to salt and pepper throughout the entire movie. The trailers made the movie look completely serious, and the "funny" parts were just silly and I felt that they took away from the rest of the film. I really liked the little girl's character, although she was unbeleivably smart for her age. Overall, I would give it a B-.

As for Tron, it will take a shitload of good reviews from people I respect to make me see that one.
