Throw dem Dice!

Hopefully, it will be more like this:

I've been learning how to play craps for the last few days for the trip to Vegas. I figure since the game tickets are outrageous, I better make sure I have plenty of fun in Vegas. Anyways, the game looks like fun and it is always moving. Hopefully, I can play for an hour or so and get some drinks out of it. What are your plans for the casino (I guess this only applies to Roy and Billy)? Have any of you played craps? What's the most fun to play at a casino?

  1. Also, Craps has some of the best odds in the casino. FYI

  2. I played craps once at a Shrine event and really enjoyed it. It was basically me and a bunch of older Shriners playing on a table they built, and for the most part, everyone was just making the basic bets, which wasn't too intimidating. The basic bets and rules are pretty simple to play, but I wouldn't know where to start with the more complex bets. My suggestion would be to find a table with very few people on it (if you can find one) and ask the dealer for tips. My experience at casinos seems to always be tables full of people who know the game, so I don't want to be the guy slowing everything up for the other players. I don't know if my comment helps at all, but I won like $100, so I'm pretty much a big shot. Good luck.

  3. You get really good odds playing the easiest bets too.

  4. Craps, Baccarat, and black jack when played all by the book all have a percentage favoring the house under 1%. Which makes it the best game to play for a gambler. to play by the book Baccarat is the easiest........all you do is bet banker every time. playing blackjack is a little more complicated but still not hard to learn. and you can always buy one of those little cards in the gift shop that will tell you what to do for each situation. Craps though at first looks hard to learn but once you pick up on the basics its not. It is the best game to play in a casino cause unlike all the other games a 5 dollar bet can last up to 10-15 minutes sometimes. It is a game full of sucker bets with rediculous house edges. But the basic bets are all you need to know. First you place a bet down on the pass line and roll. If you hit a 7 or 11 you win and they match your bet. If you hit a 2, 3, or 12 you lose and they take your money. Any other number that you roll is now the "point". After the initial roll you get a chance to bet again by "backing up" your initial bet on the pass line. This bet right here is the single best bet a gambler can make in any game in the casino. It pays the best odds and you should always make this bet. From here all you do is keep rolling the dice untill you either hit the point (you win) or hit 7 (you crap out and lose).

  5. Good info. What is the etiquette on leaving the table. Not just in craps but any community game?

  6. there isnt any. you can leave anytime and it doesnt affect anyone. you dont even have to roll in craps if you dont want to......you can just pass and let the next guy roll. Only game where people get pissed at you is blackjack. Because to play blackjack by the book.........everyone at the table has to play by the book........or it doesnt work.

  7. To add to His Eminence's last comment, always ask if you can join a blackjack table if it is in the middle of a shoe. Most of the time people welcome a new player, but if they are on a roll, they get pissed since you change the game a little. Also, don't sit at third base if you aren't comfortable being the person to potentially make or break everyone else's hand by hitting or staying.
