Everyone Loves A Villian Part II

The response to the FDA's warning labels, first brought to the Citizenz' attention by Mr. Orange, has generated interesting reactions from across the country. One of my favorites thus far as been from Don Boudreaux, an economist (and Auburn PhD) who teaches at George Mason University in Virginia. Dr. Boudreaux has become famous in libertarian circles for his long-standing letter to the editor campaign. For some time now, Dr. Boudreaux sits down at least once a day and writes a letter to a newspaper editor, usually espousing libertarian principles and/or scolding government or big-government supporters for ignoring those principles. I must admit, he was the reason I started writing letters and op-eds.

Anyway, his most recent letter concerns these new warnings it is well worth the read. I will post the entirety of his letter under the fold.

Free Friday Ear Food - Bon Iver

Usually when I hear that an artist is a singer/song writer I don’t get too excited, but there are some exceptions out there, Pete Yorn, Ray Lamontagne, Jacob Dylan, & Ingrid Michaelson all of which I have gone to see because their albums are usually pretty solid. However, none of these artists have ever put an album out that really just blew me away.

Bon Iver self titled his newest album and it will probably define him as an artist for the rest of his life. I’ve sampled him in the past, but I have been totally absorbed in his newest album for the past couple of days thanks to NPR’s First Listen (Everyone should really keep a close eye on this segment of NPR’s website, they are putting out a lot of good stuff).

This album is very delicate and is definitely one of those albums that is great for a rainy day. A lot of finesse going on, the percussion is the perfect amount of seasoning throughout the album and all kinds of extra sounds going on in the background that makes this album rich and constantly flowing and changing from start to finish. You must listen to this album from start to finish.

Click on the “Hear ‘Bon Iver’ In Its Entirety” link

On a side note there are not too many albums that I love from start to finish. The few I can think of are

Dark Side of the Moon – Pink Floyd

OK Computer – Radiohead

Astral Weeks – Van Morrison

Graceland – Paul Simon

And now Bon Iver – Bon Iver

Let me know what albums you enjoy from start to finish.

Everyone Loves a Villain

"Uh yes I would like 2 packs of dead babies!"
The FDA is releasing a 9 page comic book, much like a Burger King Disney Collectors Cup and everyone should rush out and get all 9 before they realize exactly how big brother this is. I personally understand the attraction to cigarettes, the annoyance of them, and the detriments of them, but this new picture campaign is a farce and I place it up there with those goons that stand on the side of the road with abortion pictures. Honestly how can you complain about pictures of hot girls in magazines, saying they are driving people to be anorexic and yet you use the same tactic to try to deter smoking. I seriously am at a loss of words for this campaign and the fact that it actually passed. Phillip Morris should have ponied up for everyone's sake, soon they are going to start putting pictures of fat people on my Big Mac and that's just not what being an American is about.

Bald Eagle Drops a Fucking Deer on a Power Line!

His Dark Lord, using another more familiar moniker on another social media site aptly described this scene in one word: "America!"

Seriously???

WTF is wrong with people? Below is a video about the Casey Anthony trial going on right now in Orlando, Florida. It is the trial of a mother accused of murdering her two-year-old daughter. The death has a pretty crazy story to go with it, but look at these people who are so excited about seeing a trial about a murdered toddler. In fact, there was actually a fight in the line to get tickets to see the trial live. One lady says she would rather go to the trial than go to Disney World. Seriously??? You would rather go see some poor lady put on trial for murder of her daughter than go to the happiest place on Earth?! WTF?

My Morning Jacket to Play Tuscaloosa!!!

My Morning Jacket will play the new Tuscaloosa Amphitheater on August 19th as a benefit show for Tornado relief. Announced on the website http://www.mymorningjacket.com/gogo/ I'm definitely going to this show, I just hope they don't sell tickets to students first and push all of the ordinary people to the back like they did with Avette Brothers.
Either way its gonna be a great show and tickets go on sale next Friday.
My Morning Jacket is a must see concert and I hope everyone can make it out. Neko Case, and Phosphorescent will also play the event. Neko Case is a singer song writer style that is a little overproduced, with a little country twang...nothing to write home about. Her music can be found here http://www.myspace.com/nekocase.
Phosphorescent is also a country twang singer song writer, the song "Reasons to Quit" reminds me of something the Phloid would sit around and listen to. His music can be found here http://www.myspace.com/phosphorescent, but I wouldn't spend too much time on either one of their websites and I think I'll be getting to this concert a little late. Anywho I'm stoked about MMJ.

Alabama and Auburn Season Preview Part 2

Here is part 2 of my season preview. Before I move onto Auburn, I want to mention a few things about my Alabama preview from Tuesday. I talked a great deal about the QB situation for Bammer. I want to say that I think basically every other position will be good, but a QB controversy can cause lots of problems on a good team. Like I said Tuesday, the D will win them more games than the O.

Next up, Auburn:

Grad School...

So tell me if any of this sounds familiar..... I just need to take these extra classes so I can apply for grad school...I know they are math classes and I am going to grad school for economics , but I MUST have them.

Alabama and Auburn Season Preview Part 1

This week I am working at school at this thing called a "Course Extension". It is for students who barely failed a class and need to do some extra work to get a minimum passing grade. The students do a bunch of work, and I make sure they don't kill each other or burn the building down. It is basically a babysitting job. Right now I am bored to tears, so to pass the time I am going to present to you a 2011 season preview for both Auburn and Alabama. I am obviously biased toward one of these teams so keep that in mind as you read.

First up, Bammer:

This is How You Win State Championships

Teach your JV boys to play like this, Eames, and your co-regional championship would be a non-issue.
